Throw away your old broken paddle flow switch that fails every year with an industrial thermal dispersion flow switch that will always be reliable!

The APOLLO Thermal Dispersion Flow Switch is a thermal flow switch that indicates whether the flow rate is above or below a user-set flow rate. The unit incorporates 6 LED status indicators providing visual switch indication. The set flow rate (setpoint) is easily field adjustable with included screwdriver and the unit has both NO and NC outputs.

Good solution to detecting low flow rates

Used this flow switch to detect flow that a traditional mechanical flow switch with paddle was unable to detect reliably. The only challenge was during installation. I had to use a reducer to fit this 1/2-inch threaded flow switch into the 1-inch fitting that the old mechanical switch used. The threads on the new 1/2-inch flow switch are NOT tapered, whereas those on the 1-inch to 1/2-inch reducer were tapered. I had to re-tap the reducer to remove the taper and have the new 1/2-inch flow switch thread all the way in and seal. A nuisance that delayed installation as I had to find and purchase a 1/2" by 14 NPT tap, which was not cheap. Once the new flow switch is hooked up electrically, you can adjust the trigger point to the application. In doing this exercise, I realized just how variable the flow was from my supposed constant-flow recirculation pump. Nonetheless, using the new flow switch's LED scale, I was able to accurately tune the system to trigger upon flow detection and remain triggered during circulation pump operation. Overall, this 1/2" flow switch was cost-effective (it was offered a promotional price when I purchased it), appears appropriately sensitive, and will hopefully prove reliable. Based on early use to-date, I would recommend this flow switch. I will wait to see whether the unit is reliable before I give a full endorsement.
